I recently upgraded to MacOS 26.5.2 (Tahoe) on Apple Silicon. I've been able to install and run deluge, though there are some complaints when I start it up from the command line. Today, though, it will not open, with this error:

Not sure what steps to try now - any ideas?

There is no official support for Apple Silicon, and how old versions react to Apple Silicon and newer OS versions is anyone's guess.

As far as an attempt to actually help you, it is likely one of two things. One possibility is the GTK subsystem cannot locate the specific macOS Quartz/Cocoa binding namespace responsible for handling native application menus and dock integration. The second is that there is an environment path mismatch. Because the app was never meant for Apple Silicon or this OS version, environment paths pointing to Homebrew, MacPorts, or framework directories (/opt/homebrew vs /usr/local) are either misconfigured or the dependency isn't installed.

Hopefully you find this helpful as its the best I can do given the situation.

I thought I might be able to use Docker to run an image, but I gather then I have the issue of making the graphics talk to the Mac?

Yep, for Deluge GUI using Docker there is no easy way to make it work with Apple Silicon graphics.

You can use Docker to run an image, but it needs to be headless, no GUI.

I would imagine that isn't what you are looking to do.

If you don't mind running it headless, I can probably talk you through that.
