Migrating from Ubuntu 22.04 to 24.04

Hello,

I am trying to migrate to a new vm and version of Ubuntu. I see the installer in 24.04 now creates a "debian-deluged" user. Previosuly I just ran the applicaiton with my own user account. I tried migrating my .config folder from the old vm to the the new one, but deluge does not recognize the config. I do not see any systemd files for deluged or deluged-web to change the user. What is the best way to get deluge working with current torrent list in the new vm?

Yeah i had to deal with the same hassle. I was also caught off guard. If i read your post, you do the same as i do time after time when migrating with each new Ubuntu version.

I myself currently am in the early fase of completely redoing my whole infrastructure and implementing Kubernetes and running Deluge within my Kubernetes cluster. You could maybe start experimenting with Docker as that is way less simpeler compared to Kubernetes.

This way you at least have your docker compose file and no longer have to deal with such things. Just create volumes to have your torrent data outside the Docker containers of maybe have them somewhere on a Sambashare instead. That way you can migrate very easily with each new Ubuntu version.
