"Because" is the only answer I can give with such info ;).

Please check the wiki and enable the verbose mode to give us more info. The files were not yet D/L right, queued to be so?

'Check the wiki' is not a valid response to a user problem.

Here is a full report from another user.

Deluge randomly seems to eat it's own state and fastresume files. For my usage, Deluge 2 seems to just randomly make a mess on the bed and start corrupting itself. It seems unable to connect to anything, whereas Deluge 1 does. The damage when it four asterisks the bed corrupts the state and fastresume files, and dragging the completed torrents back in necessitates a long, painful process of checking their data - a waste of time and energy.

The ratio of the files is gone; it's impossible to tell what needs to be seeded, and there is no way to recover the prior ratio.

Files that had yet to hash out their names are gone, as are some in-progress downloads. It is impossible to tell what was lost at a glance, and Deluge does not keep logs of the files pruned.

Editing, because the censor amused me slightly.
