Torrent to a friend

Hey guys. First let me just say that I have been using Deluge on Windows for years and I think it's the best client and wouldn't trust anything else. I can't wait for Deluge 2.0 because I have hundreds of torrents and the client in a little slow and stuttery but still working like a horse.
Anyway, I wish to send a friend some rather large files and I thought the best way to do this was to use torrents. I created the torrent file and added a list of public trackers but the damn thing just won't connect. I've tried this numerous times with different settings such as DHT and peer exchange but still nothing connects.
I decided to create small torrent with just one song in it and see if I could seed it to my phone. If I manage to get that working I could try it with the larger torrent. However I couldn't even get that to work.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Perhaps you'd have more luck with cloud storage sites like wetransfer or mega. Just how big is the file?

About 80 gigs Why would cloud be better then torrent?

I didn't say it would be better, just thought it would be more convenient, but with a file size like that then yeah torrenting is probably better. Do you get any issues while seeding other torrents?

so you published the torrent on a public tracker, did you d/l it yourself first? Maybe obvisous but w/o that part there is no single seeder so it's the way to do it (the "uploader" is the first d/ler)
Or at last, check the number of seeders on the tracker, is answer is 0 it should be the explanation

I didn't publish the torrent on any website if that's what you mean, though I did ad a list of trackers to it. Afterwards I transferred it to my phone I tried to seed it, but nothing happened. Is it because I didn't publish in on a website?

Adding a tracker make it available for the most, but with no seeders nobody will be able to download it.
So you need to download the file yourself to become a seeder

How do I do that. Must this be done through website? I'd like to have a little privacy with with torrent since it really is only intended for two people including myself.

Sorry, don't know anything about this but I'd expect you'd be the initial seeder when making the torrent and having it running afterwards with incoming port forwarded properly. I quickly googled it and 3 guides and 1 video stated the same. Though, importantly it needs to be added to the session e.g. with utorrent's create-torrent dialog it's called 'Start seeding' in the options and in deluge it's off by default and called 'Add torrent to session', or else add/start the torrent manually. There's also by default an option enabled for only one of the same IP at the time, which can be changed by ltconfig plugin, so test from outside your LAN. It should actually work by adding no trackers and using DHT but add trackers just in case. You can also directly add IP and port of peer under peer tab. Lastly, one had same issue here previously and it would only work from deluge to deluge or utorrent to utorrent for some reason and he didn't found out why. Good luck.

Well I did try using my own IP address and port number when trying to seed to the phone. Of course I added the torrent to the current session and seeded it. The only thing I didn't do was upload it to a website. I've created torrents before for private trackers. I added the private trackers url to the torrent and it worked so why I can't do it with a pubic tracker is beyond me.
