Stuck deluge-console instances

Hello,
I'm using autodl-irssi to automatically send torrents to deluge-console, after a random number of hours I am seeing stuck deluge-console instances sitting in my process list.
Once a few get stuck, downloads no longer get added.
Is this down to Deluge's bad handling of a large number of torrents or is there any other reason this happens? I usually have 500+ seeding before I see this issue arise.
Any help appreciated.
