limited download on RPi

Hello everybody,
I'm having trouble torrenting with my RPi B+. My setup is: ethernet-wired RPi and external 2TB HDD. There is no power lack for the HDD thanks to max_usb_current=1. My internet download speed is 50Mbps. In my PC I get up to 6MBps torrent downloads.
Basicly, my problem is that I cant get these speeds with transmission, neither with deluge. Tweaking the cache size (tried 64, even 128 mb) I could get 6MBps download with transmission, but it collapsed after a few seconds. Leaving the cache size untouched (2 mb), download speed stays constantly in 1 MBps, just like deluge, which cache size is 512 mb (¿?). No matter how many active torrents I set, it's always 1MBps.
My guess is that somewhere in cache memory must be the bottleneck which limits my download speeds. Any clues?
Thank you in advance. Cheers!
