On Linux, what is the (secret?) Deluge use model for MOVING STORAGE successfully?
a) It kept on putting downloaded files exactly where I DON'T want them!
b) It started from ZERO instead of from 93% both times!
Obviously I'm doing SOMETHING (very) wrong. It's sooooo frustrating ... I 'thought' I did all the right things.
Something is not obvious (to me) or ... there is a really bad bug in Deluge (I doubt that it's that dumb though - so it must be me!).
Here's the scoop:
a) I hook up an external hard disk drive (/media/SignatureMini).
b) I make a directory for Deluge to store downloaded files in (/media/SignatureMini/iso).
c) I start Deluge 1.3.5 on Centos 6 and download torrent files using all defaults except where the files should go (/media/SignatureMini/iso).
d) Deluge stops at 94% and I get no error or warning whatsoever from Deluge - but also the ETA has disappeared.
e) The operating system tells me what happened - Deluge has filled up my partition. Huh? I didn't tell Deluge to store ANYTHING on my partition?
f) So, I again set Deluge to store files in /media/SignatureMini/iso and right-click restart the dead-in-the-water downlaod.
g) Guess what happens? Deluge frustratingly apparently wipes out the files downloaded - and starts from zero again. OK. So be it. I wait.
h) Yikes! Deluge stops at 94% & fills up my home partition again. Huh? Why? I specifically told it and doublechecked and it should store NOTHING in my home partition?
i) Third times the charm, right? This time I pause the stuck download, set up Deluge to MOVE STORAGE to /media/SignatureMini/iso, and restart the download.
j) Auuurggh! It starts from zero bytes again! And, hours later, guess what? It fills up my partition again!
So, for some reason, Deluge is insisting on putting files where I do not want them.
It's putting files in my home directory. Every time.
QUESTION:
All I want is simply for Deluge to store files on the external hard disk drive! What am I doing wrong?
Three times I've tried, and three times Deluge insisted on two very frustrating things:What is the Deluge use model for MOVING STORAGE successfully
Re: What is the Deluge use model for MOVING STORAGE successf
On my fourth frustrating try using Deluge 1.3.5 on Centos 6, I take care to write down exactly what happens.
1. I hook up the SignatureMini and I check the disk space available (it says 85 GB, which should be plenty). 2. I make a directory on that SignatureMini USB drive (/media/SignatureMini/torrent_downloads).
3. From the Linux command line, I move the 94% Deluge-downloaded directory which filled up my home partition over to that directory (/media/SignatureMini/torrent_downloads/.).
4. I start Deluge 1.3.5 and right-click on the selection inside of Deluge and press "Move Storage" and select "/media/SignatureMini/torrent_downloads/.
Note: When I had tried moving the storage only inside of Deluge in prior test, Deluge frustratingly wiped out everything downloaded - so that's why I moved it in Linux instead.
5. Now I doublecheck (for the unmpteenth time!) that Deluge is set to store files NOT in my home directory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Deluge: Edit->Preferences
This says it will store flies in "SignatureMini". I don't believe anything I see in Deluge anymore - so - I doublecheck and set it to "/media/SignatureMini/torrent_downloads).
6. I notice that the file size now says Paused 0.00%, which makes sense for now since I paused it (my whole machine hung because the home partition filled up) and moved the files manually over to the USB hard disk drive.
7. I doublecheck all the settings - they look OK (but then again, they looked ok before also) ... and then I right click on the selection line in Deluge and select "Resume" & then "Open Folder".
