New user having difficulty with downloads

I am having trouble figuring out of the torrents I selected to download are actually downloading. Nothing seems to be happening in my Deluge queue. I installed Deluge because this new torrents tracker I am using disallowed my regular bit torrents client. But I don't know how to use Deluge. It is more complicated than my other bit torrents client. May I have some help from staff, just to see if I need to unblock some connection that is not correctly set?
