Poor speed after updating debian squeeze to wheezy

My Deluge download performance seems to have tanked after doing a distro upgrade.
under squeeze I had installed 1.33 from source and was running libtorrent 0.14.xxx, now as part of the distro upgrade I have libtorrent 0.15.9.0 and performance is horrible on all torrents.
I am still using my from source install, should I kill it and install from apt since I now have access to more up to date packages or is the something more simple that I may have over looked?
Was trying to search the forum for anything regarding standard things to check for speed but speed it too common of a word and performance came up with nothing.
My inbound port passes the port test still so that is covered.
