multiple file selections collapse list

Geez, I don't know how to word this problem -- sorry if the subject line doesn't make sense.
When I download a torrent with multiple files, for example a "season" of a TV program, I'll try to select the first few episodes and allow them to download at the "high" or "highest" rate -- lest the download proceed randomly and I have the season-ending program complete before the first episode.
When I try the usual Windows techniques to select files -- selecting one file and then shift-click to select the adjacent files, or selecting a file and using CTL+click to select other files -- the file list collapses. The really odd thing is that this problem presents randomly with Deluge -- sometimes is works as expected, other times not at all. This is the only Windows app that behaves this way.
I'm running v1.3.1 on XP Pro SP3 and during the install I allowed it to install GTK+.
I used Vuze for a couple of years -- the search engine spoiled me, but the incessant upgrades, app-stalls while ads load, badgers about Adobe Flash, and script-fails with prompts to "debug now?" got me searching for a new client!
and I found Deluge. I like the product and want to help make it better.
