Cannot add magnet links using deluge console

Hi I have recently tried manget links on my desktop pc running deluge and it works great, however I also have an Ubuntu Server running Deluge 1.3.1 and I have unsuccesfully been trying to add manget uris.
I tried the following two options from within deluge-console command line:

1. add magnet:?xt=urn:btih:f6c1d809f37717ed38b9f285bc862c6455f0e75d
2. add "magnet:?xt=urn:btih:f6c1d809f37717ed38b9f285bc862c6455f0e75d"

however I get the following message: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:f6c1d809f37717ed38b9f285bc862c6455f0e75d doesn't exist!

Is there a way to add magnet links using deluge-console?
