Deluge issue with duplicate torrents

I have a seedbox and I've been using the autodl-irssi software to download torrents. I'm download the same torrent file from two different sites, and autodl-irssi is renaming the .torrent file to make it unique before dropping it into the watch folder. This has been allowing me to cross seed. I was using rutorrent/rtorrent and I got one of the following scenarios:
1) One sites download finishes completely before the second site torrent is added. So the second site torrent does hash check and starts seeding (ideal scenario)
3) Both are added near or at the same time. Usually the first one added is at like 70% and the second one starts a hash check, noticed that something is missing and downloads the remainder.
In the second scenario, rtorrent is writing out to the same file from two different torrents, so I might download 1GB from site 1 and .3GB from site two, but the file is only 1GB. It seems to work OK.
When I try this with Deluge, if I hit scenario 2 deluged is not happy. I have to slay it and restart.
1) Is what I'm doing a bad idea? It seems to work fine with rtorrent
2) Is this something that should work?
Thanks!
