How to disable renaming of torrent files?

I just switched from Transmission to Deluge, and the first thing I did was to set a directory for the "Auto add .torrents from" option. This directory had a few dozen torrent files in it already. When I next looked in the directory, it was empty. All the torrent files are now available in ~/.config/deluge, but they have been renamed with the torrent hash, rather than the original torrent name. I understand why it is sometimes necessary to do something like this to prevent name conflicts, but that is seldom a problem for me, so I would rather handle that issue manually if it ever comes up. Now I have the much more annoying problem of not being able to identify any of these torrent files. My questions:
1. Am I crazy, or is the "auto add .torrent" option unclear in explaining what it does? I interpret "add a torrent" to mean "add a torrent to the active download/seed list". Deluge does this, moves the .torrent file to a different directory, AND renames the .torrent file. I would expect BOTH of those effects to be controlled by their own options, not to be combined into a single option. Obviously my understanding of the options is limited - my goal here is to learn how it works, not to complain about the design - I am simply explaining my interpretation to make it easier for someone to point out how exactly I misunderstand it.
2. Can I disable this behavior for future torrents? I want my .torrent files to stay in the same directory, and I want them NOT to be renamed.
3. Can I get Deluge to re-rename the files with the original name, or ANYTHING that would allow me to identify these files? I already know of a few extremely tedious ways to figure this out. Please don't suggest any solution to this that involves manually checking the hash of each torrent.
4. With this behavior, how am I expected to do anything with Deluge other than add and remove torrents from within the GUI? What am I supposed to do if I want to move some subset of my torrents to a different client? What if I just want to send someone a torrent file from my machine?
Like I said, my intent is not to complain about the design of the software. I just need to understand what these options are doing, or I will not be able to use it. Thanks for any help.
