Changing Cache size doesn't seem to work...

Hi, I am using Deluge-GTK 1.2.3-6 on Arch, with libtorrent 0.15.1-1. The filesystem is ext4... I increased the cache from 512 to 5000, but from looking at the info provided on that page, The cache size doesn't go over ~400, and downloading 4Mb made over 100 writes to the disk. I started the deamon with debug, it couldn't open the core.conf file, so I changed the permissions of that file, and now I don't get that warning, but still no difference with the caching... Any suggestions?
