Why is the default optimal setting for Deluge different from the optimal setting for Azureus? What is so different about the way Deluge handles connections as opposed to Azureus to justify the difference?

I suspect he means the number of connections and upload speeds, that Deluge defaults to based on your Wizard entries.

I note that for my line, a 1 Mbps upload, Deluge defaults to 600 connections, and 92 kB/s up. Under Azureus, the default for that line speed is 110 kB/s.

The 110 adheres more closely to the 80% rule.

But I agree, we need him to say exactly which settings...

I'm no coder or protocol engineer so I can't say how they have reasoned. But from an outsiders point of view I'd say that the BitTorrent protocol is like the Formula 1 race track with it's physical tracks and symbolic rules. While each BitTorrent Client represents the race car constructors in the Top 10 list.

At this stage of the "Torrentula 1" race there's no scientific telling of what configurations is correct for the race cars be it Azureus or Deluge. The only way of knowing what BitTorrent Client is doing the right thing is to have unscientific races with unscientific statistics :geek:

Azureus vs. Deluge
I took the liberty to do a little race car comparison but I'm not sure I got things right and Azureus crashed before I could gather all the data. Maybe someone else can refine the data who's running both Azureus and Deluge.
For starters is "Max upload/torrent:" the same as "Max upload slots"?

I have used this upload rate on my PC for both of my ISP subscriptions (down:up) 500:400 kbit/s and 8:1 Mbit/s for ages and for both BitTorrent and
eDonkey protocol or should I say network? Anyhow the number 44 kB/s seems to be my magic number for my ISP subscriptions so far.

How can 2 laptops use one adsl dial-up connection? We have 2 laptops at home which are both wireless capable and a wireless router. What should be the set-up so that both computers will have access to the adsl connection?

I simply want to connect 2 ADSL modems on 2 computers in different rooms to be able to access the ADSL single line in my house. As soon as another modem is connected, the whole system slows down to molasses; as soon as we disconnect one of the modems, broadband works fine.
That's not possible. One phone line = one modem. Buy a router and create a LAN for your two computers.
