Unable to manage or kill daemon

I've had about 60 simultaneous downloads, and deluged was ok. Then, when I've appended one more, it assumed "Checking" status to that torrent. The point is that I was unable to pause/resume it, or to kill deluged. Even when I've deleted some old downloads.
It (daemon) grabbed 100% cpu time and did not respond to any commands. When I tried to kill the daemon (with SIGKILL sygnal), it became a zombie-process which still have been using 100% CPU.
Now, after removal of ~/.config/deluge/ directory, the daemon works fine again.
I'd like to know, what is this problem, does anyone else have it and how to solve it.
