Peers not connecting

Hi,

I've done the FAQ and browsed the forum a bit, but couldn't figure this one out:

1. Why i see peers available but not connecting? For example I have few torrents with 20 or so peers, but they are not connecting (only now and then, downloading few KiB/s). The problem is that I get download speed as high as 800 KiB/s and such uploading issue hits my ratio very hard...

2. I've had an answer on a forum of the tracker I'm having such problems with, stating that this happens because my upload connection is slow and the peers prefer to download from other seeds. Now this sounds logical, but I still don't understand why my maximum upload speed isn't utilized (as in why those peers don't even try to download before deciding I'm a slow seed).

3. I'd like to analyze the relevant connection debug info and I've enabled debug logging to a file, but there is no information there on who is trying to connect etc. How that kind of information could be accessed?

This can be any number of issues.

On a full set of files, some peers may not be actively downloading.

Some may be seeking other peers to download from.

Some may be full seeds, simply handshaking and releasing once it's realised there's no need to connect.

Just because you have a full file set, you're not guaranteed a full upload speed. Welcome to BitTorrent.

Thanks for the reply. And what's your opinion on the possible cause 2? You mentioned 'handshaking and releasing', do you know a way to actually see (as in debug) this happening? It's not my first year in BitTorrent and it just doesn't feel right ;)

Not in deluge, although perhaps starting a log would do so.
