deluge 1.2.0_rc4/rc5: Test Active Port doesn't work

Hello

*** 26/12/09. Update: This problem is related to version 1.2.0_rc5 as well (downloaded from the same repository and using on the same system as below). Updated topic description. ***

I'm using Deluge 1.2.0_rc4 on Ubuntu 9.10 (x86_64) installed from the following ppa repository:
https://launchpad.net/~deluge-team/+arc ... /+packages
When I test the active port (option in Preferences > Network) I don't get any information. I know that my port is open, that's not the problem. I just wanted to point out that the native tool seems to not work.

Regards
tobaj

I'm using the same release (Ubuntu 9.10 x86, deluge 1.2.0_rc4 from deluge-team PPA) and it works fine for me. My port is configured as random (using uPNP).

1) There is one difference between our Ubuntu versions: I'm working on 64 bits. Don't know whether or not that's relevant regarding this issue but it may be.

2) I'm not sure if your reply is in connection with my topic. As I mentioned above I can configure Deluge to get my port(s) open (either 'your way' - random ports+uPNP - or with static port/ports range and appropriate manual set up on the router). Also I can check if that works OK using various tools.

3) The problem I reported was that the native 'Test Active Port' tool embedded in Deluge settings doesn't work for me. When I try it (Preferences > Network > Test Active Port) no information appears whatsoever. Not in the preferences window, either not in the bottom bar or anywhere in the main program. In the previous version I used to use prior to this dev. release that function worked fine (can't remember which version was that, it's been a while ago, but I'm sure it did work).

I just downloaded deluge 1.2.0_rc5 for Windows and I'm experiencing the same problem... The "test active port" button doesn't work, ie, it doesn't report anything. I had 1.1.9 before and it worked. It stopped working after the 1.2.0_rc5 installation.

When you click on "test active port", you should see one of two icons appear next to it:
  • A green tick
  • An exclamation in an orange triangle
so to confirm, you're not seeing any of those?

All test active port does is download the page at: http://deluge-torrent.org/test_port.php ... ort_number>
and sees whether it's a 0 or a 1 (1 - means the port is open).

if you're not getting any icon, could you manually try the url with your incoming port number and see if loads with a 0 or a 1?

I confirm that I don't see any of the above or any other kind of notification when clicking on the 'test active port' button.

The link (http://deluge-torrent.org/test_port.php?port=<my-port-number>) works fine and it tells me what I already knew: my port is open (it loads with a 1).

To resolve all doubts I repeat what I wrote before: the problem isn't that I'm unable to find out whether or not related port is open or that I don't know how to configure my router properly. It is just about the not-giving-any-information 'test active port' option, nothing else.

Update: This problem is related to version 1.2.0_rc5 as well (downloaded from the same repository and using on the same system as mentioned in the initial post). Updated topic description.

How long are you waiting after you've clicked "Test Active Port" ?
It can take up to 10 seconds...

@johnnyg
I usually waited a bit as I'm aware it may take a (little) while. I've just tried again three times and each time gave it about 30 seconds. The same result: no information. When I check on the above URL I usually get response right away but if there's any delay it's like maximum 3 or 4 sec. And that's quite right, as long as I've got the port open (I always have as well as DMZ assigned on the router to my local PC IP) and bandwidth is fast enough such tests shouldn't take longer than a couple of sec.

Just in case there may be something to do with the gtk2 and icon themes I use on my GNOME I've tried different sets of themes (Dust, New Wave, devArt, Silent Night II) and icons (Humanity - default on Ubuntu, Meliae White/Dark, Magog White, Simplygrey). Again - no difference. I don't think it's relevant which gtk2/icon theme I use anyway but I wanted to make sure everything is OK on my end. Also coli1875 reported above the same problem happening on Windows.

Hi all! just to report the same problem, i'm not seeing any icon next to the 'Test active port' button.
I'm running Debian testing and the package from the official repository is release 1.2.0~rc5-1.
Best regards.
