Deluge locks up with no internet connection

Today, my internet dropped out twice (stupid Verizon...) and usually i notice on my 2 net-status bars that there's zero transfer going on before i notice that my modem reset. So because i first think it's a issue with Deluge or this system or the bars, i open deluge to see if the torrents are still going (At this point, the connection is not back up as the modem hasn't synced up yet), however, when i try to open it, there's no content in the window (no torrents display) and the details bar on the bottom is completely blank with sort of placeholders for where content should be. So then since i can't close Deluge sanely and it is what i would consider locked up or crashed, i kill -9 it and of course, when i re-open it, i have to (another bug...) spend 3 hours waiting for Deluge to re-check all my torrents...
