Checking process: multiple files concurrently

It seems that presently as a torrent is checked, every file within that torrent is checked concurrently. Let me be clear, I do not mean multiple torrents --- I am referring to multiple files within a single torrent, they are all opened for reading and hashchecks concurrently.
If there is anyway this could be changed to one file at a time it would really drastically speed up the Checking process for my environment. Not sure what advantage the concurrent method would have on a typical environment (which mine isn't) but I suspect that any HDD or SSD config would perform far better if one file at a time were checked instead of multiple.
I am basing this off the Files tab where it shows multiple file percentages incrementing concurrently, leading me to believe multiple files are open for reading concurrently.
