Few connecting seeds and slow speeds [Obscure problem?]

Hi, I'm new to the forum, but a long time user of deluge 0.5 on Xubuntu 8
I recently moved my laptop from downstairs to up, and updated the firmware on my router/firewall
The problems started a couple of days ago, when I discovered my Torrents were no longer connecting or only connecting to a minute fraction of the seeds and being slow.
At first, a different machine showed signs of having incorrectly assigned ports, and a quick scan shows the ports are closed.
All of them.
Apparently I don't have any open ports what so ever, which makes me doubt something along the line.
Also, today, I found two torrents (episodes of reaper) quickly returned to the previous standard of getting a healthy 300kb/s and finishing in very little time. Only to slow down again so my ratio dropped :/
So, I'd like to think I know a few things about computer, but understand that compared to some, I am but a naive babe in the woods.
To me, it can't be the ports, because if it was, nothing would work, and it's a case of thing being temperamental.
So rather then force the ports open (which my landlord with no software firewall on windows is adamant I avoid)
I seek some other fix.
As far as I am aware, very little has changed, the firmware seems the most likely culprit, as it is the only real change in the last few weeks, however again, things are a bit odd, surely if something is going to break, it breaks, it doesn't half break then fix itself for some things, and fail utterly with others...
The big issue with the firmware is that it didn't immediately stop things from working, nor has it 'adapted' and stopped things from working now, if it is the cause, then it has taken at least a week to do anything, and it hasn't stopped it all either, just slowed everything down absurdly, or stopped it completely with a few random exceptions.
So my two ideas, ports, or firmware, both seem to be wrong, nothing else seems to have changed.
Well, besides the torrent files, and I doubt all of the various files I have been getting have been messed up, unless there is some tracker crash I haven't heard of...
Is there?
>.< God I hope not
Anyway,
I have attached a screen shot of my deluge screen too, to illustrate the fact that I have less then a percent of over a thousand seeds, and getting no where from it...

For the last several months, no problems, now this, it's becoming quite annoying.
Please add your insight, ask questions, anything really, I like a good puzzle, hopefully some of you do too ^_^
Looking forward to hearing from you.
