I have windows xp sp3. when attempting to download a torrent, I get this Download Error message:
E:\DOCUME~1\BRIAN\LOCALS~1\Temp\The_Economist_March_28th_2009_[mp3-48-2009].4807167.TPB.torrent could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences.
If anyone knows what this associated helper application is and how to set it up, let me know.
Thanks

Re: download error
Deluge is the associated helper application... or should be.
Try downloading the .torrent to your desktop, then dragn'n'drop into Deluge, or use Deluge to add the torrent.
Also, what does the icon for the torrent look like? In your O/S the file may be associated with an application you no longer have installed.

The answer below assumes that you run the latest version 1.1.5.brian47 wrote:I have windows xp sp3. when attempting to download a torrent, I get this Download Error message:

The Windows installer should really take care of the file association. Start by testing whether it works when you double-click on a .torrent file in Windows Explorer.
If it works in Explorer but not in your browser, it might be the case that you have set up a manual .torrent association in your browser. At least Firefox can do that. In that case, change the browser association to correspond to the default one in Windows.
