Reduce Disk I/O, use RAM/Cache

How can I reduce my Disk I/O and use RAM/Cache for seeding and downloading of torrents?
I am using Ubuntu 8.10 32bit, I have a RAID 5 array (4x250mb HDs) and I have 4gb of RAM (yes I realize that not all 4 gigs is being utilized because I am using a 32bit ver of Ubuntu, but unfortunately my CPU doesn't support 64bit so I am stuck with what I got), and I would like to relieve some of the stress from my RAID array and utilize more RAM for seeding/downloading of torrents. Where can I find the optimal settings for Deluge to allow for more use of RAM and less Disk I/O?
