1.1.3 Losing .torrent files

Deluge 1.1.3 is running under Ubuntu 8.10
I would like to start by thanking the Deluge developers for this fine P2P software. I am running this since version 0.5.X and I have always been a happy camper (yes, even when, every now and then, I find the occasional hiccup).
But now this is way behind my (modest newbie) expertise level, so I am pleading for help. Deluge is failing on me (or I am doing something wrong, whatever...). I keep losing .torrent files after a shutdown/boot sequence. If I exit through the GUI and start it again, it remembers some of the torrents (and some of the .torrent files are in ~/.config/deluge/state), but not after a reboot or a shutdown/boot sequence.
After adding torrents, on next boot some or all of the torrents are gone.
This is how I ALWAYS stop Deluge:
1 - Pause all torrents
2 - Exit Deluge
3 - Shutdown or reboot computer
***********************************
~/.config/deluge/state has no *.torrent files, but has lots of *.fastresume files.
~/.config/deluge/deluged.log is empty
***********************************
The files that were being downloaded by Deluge are still in their folder, but are probably unusable...
This started to happen two days ago, so 1.1.3 was running smoothly prior to the bizarre behavior.
***********************************
Starting Deluge from the command line:
***********************************
lll@lll-acer:~$ deluge
1.1.3
/var/lib/python-support/python2.5/deluge/ui/gtkui/mainwindow.py:51: GtkWarning: Attempting to read the recently used resources file at `/home/lll/.recently-used.xbel', but the parser failed: Error reading file '/home/lll/.recently-used.xbel': Is a directory.
"glade/main_window.glade"))
***********************************
And on exiting:
***********************************
/var/lib/python-support/python2.5/deluge/ui/gtkui/gtkui.py:219: GtkWarning: Attempting to store changes into `/home/lll/.recently-used.xbel', but failed: Failed to rename file '/home/lll/.recently-used.xbel.6HH1PU' to '/home/lll/.recently-used.xbel': g_rename() failed: Is a directory
gtk.main()
lll@lll-acer:~$
***********************************
Where are the (30 plus) torrents gone? Searching for them retrieves none! Sigh, I do think that they are lost. No sign of them in the Trash Bin (it would be nice, wouldn't it?). It will be a pain adding them again... Specially if Deluge keeps losing them. I think that copying them to another folder before shutdown and on boot manually adding them again and then starting Deluge may be the "solution", but this is way cumbersome. A script could do this, of course, but this would be not very smooth and integrated, I say.
OK, I am almost babbling now. Time to shut up. Thank you for your kind attention.
