blocklist importer stalls

Everytime I check the box to enable the blocklist plugin, it pops up a dialog box saying "loading and installing blocklist" but it stays like this constantly...I've left it alone overnight once and it got nowhere. The very first time I tried to enable this, it allowed me to give it URLs to import, but then the same dialog box at the end. Now I'm just stuck with this constant loader.
Ubuntu 8.10 (Ibex), Deluge 0.5.9.3
Any Ideas? Any more info you need?

Try removing the file blocklist.cache and blocklist.conf.
And, apparently only the emule version works. Your results may vary.

Is there any particular reason you're using 0.5.9.3?
The 0.5 is being discontinued so to speak, best to use the latest (1.0.4).
And the emule list only working applies only to windows (in version 1.0.4).

Because that was the version included un the repository, but I just grabbed the new one. What is emule exactly?
*edit*
could you also link me to the blocklist listing? I found it the first time, but I've since lost it.

eMule is a peer-to-peer file sharing application for windows as an alternative to eDonkey2000

so it's got nothing to do with deluge or linux then?

correct.
However there are blocklists maintained for emule which are compatible with deluge.
If you're using the latest version in windows then all the blocklists except for emule's hang when you try to import them.
In linux however, they all work fine.
So just choose your preferred blocklist.

last question on this, and thanks for all the info btw. Can I import multiple lists, or merely choose my favorite?

Deluge can only import 1 list so choose your favourite.
However, that said, you can always create your own custom list using the blocklist manager and converter found at:
http://www.bluetack.co.uk/forums/index.php (the blocklist manager seems to be windows only though)
