two deluge clients wont communicate over local net

i have two Ubuntu (1 64 bit, and 1 32 bit) systems running on the same router (Linksys), with the same torrent, but they wont talk to each other. one sees a deluge client at the router's address, with the percentage complete of the other one. but the other one does not see the first at all.
