This has potential but I also agree that it should be a Plugin and thus should disappear when not enabled ... even the display of a Browser UI is still bloat if the user intended to switch it off. I see where qcompson is coming from when he says that in the long run this will bring more problems then answers to Deluge. Anonymous Browsing is legal, and thus so far has no issue ... but Proxy FileSharing which I mentioned earlier:

not *yet*. please dont even try. we're starting at step one...we'll get to step 2 when/if we manage. :) it is in the plans, though, so stick with us and spread the word!
is asking for legal problems ... doesn't mean it can't be done (suggest you colocate with the Pirate Bay servers on this). So markybob I hope you planned that legal grey zone out for the future. Maybe we can add a multi-tab feature to the browser, or is the Proxy only capable of maintaining 1 connection at a time?

In terms of use, I see this as a premature feature ... great on paper but right now it doesn't have enough traction to be widely accepted as people would rather have unsecure but fast loading pages rather then a slower but anonymous browsing ... the trade off isn't soo great right now. When Proxy Torrents become capable then this will difinately see traction ... but it'll cost alot to even implement in a small scale let alone making it go global :o . I'll use this here and there but not everyday ... maybe weeks in between the last usage, as I presume most would aswell.

Anyways good stuff, keep them coming and everyone have a happy holiday.

Small bug report: If you click on the button in the options to check if your port is open or closed, it tries to open the page in Deluge's built in browser, which tests the wrong IP address. This particular button should be forced to use the operating system's default browser.

Actually, using a proxy for BT doesn't help at all against ISPs reducing bandwidth for bulk data transmissions like BT.
And the traffic for the proxy would be insane.

you're probably talking about the dbus daemon. are you? or do you see two deluge.exe? more details are needed here :)
I think - 2 deluge.exe. Information is from the System Monitor (only relevant info):

Process 1: Deluge, Sleeping, ID 5869, Command Line: /usr/bin/python2.5/usr/bin/deluge, Memory (changing): 19,4 MB
Process 2: Deluge, Sleeping, ID 5863, Command Line: /usr/bin/python2.5/usr/bin/deluge, Memory (changing): 5,4 MB

I'm starting Deluge normal from the main menu.

When starting from terminal:

sergej@sergej-desktop:~$ deluge

all seems ok...

btw: i'm using Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron alpha 2 with all updates to date, no mayor problems so far.

greetings

PS: downgraded to 0.5.7.1 - "double Deluge" problem gone...
this is because ubuntu is retarded and we have to fix its environment. it's fixed in svn and will be in the final 0.5.8 release

I have been scratched my head for the whole afternoon with that MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME and LD_LIBRARY_PATH for why Ubuntu and FreeBSD need these to be set. I have finally figured out. I am working on fix gecko ports in FreeBSD ports tree by simple add "--with-default-mozilla-five-home=/path/to" tomorrow. I have reinstalled Firefox with "--with-default-mozilla-five-home=/path/to" and I finally can run Deluge without patch to set MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME and LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Feel free to remove FreeBSD check in script/deluge. Thanks for accept this patch in first place.

There is report in Ubuntu bug tracker too, possible fix is on the way.
