Is anyone else still seeing this problem? I'm using 5.8.7 on Ubuntu 7.10 and see exactly as others in the thread have described. On very busy torrents with LOTS of peers, I am only seeding to at the most one peer (if I'm lucky!)- at a tiny 2-3kb/s - eventually that single peer will vanish...

This problem is also present in the current build which is sitting in the Ubuntu Universe repository.

I've tried raising the no. of upload slots to no avail.

It's almost certainly not my ISP, since they definitely don't perform any traffic shaping or port throttling to speak of.

The nominated port is DEFINITELY open on my firewall

As someone else said, it's damaging for users of private trackers if we can't maintain our ratios...

Has there been any development, or fixes regarding this? I'll have to resort to uTorrent under Wine if not

Try the default settings from the wizard for your connection type.

Otherwise my small insignificant suggestion, try transmission before you try utorrent through wine... or there is other linux torrent clients before resorting to utorrent.

ktorrent is another really good torrent client. Powerful and flexible. OK it is a KDE based app, but it is a better alternative then going through wine IMHO
