i finally figured out the cause of this. it's fixed in svn and will be released probably in a day or two.

Mine locks up when minimizes, when in the system tray and when maximized - both in and out of focu. It unlocks usually within a few minutes.

I have to say that it was an understatement when I titled the thread 'locks up "ocassionally"' as it happens every few minutes it seems. It seems to spend as much time locked up as it does running normally.

I'm sorry, I didn't see the your post. Great work on finding the cause of this. I'm looking forward to the next release.

Still seem to be happening in 0.5.8.4, does it with certain torrents. I'm thinking the problem is with libtorrent, cause i tried rtorrent which uses libtorrent and it halts the system on the same torrents. Sidenote: I find it amusing that a torrent client can dropkick the almighty linux kernel to its knees :P
