There is absolutely nothing in Deluge 1.3.7 that is the problem, the problems stem from issues now fixed in 0.16 libtorrent...

Okay, but can you tell me if I can install the new libtorrent with Deluge 1.3.5? I understand you want me to install 1.3.7; but I'd like to try upgrading the libtorrent first. I'm reluctant to upgrade because usually in my experience these upgrades cause as many problems as they solve. Since Deluge was working perfectly until about a week or two ago, I'm not sure what happened. I don't think I changed anything.

Also, I looked in my Deluge directory and all I could find was 'libtorrent.pyd'. Nothing with any numbers as you have noted in the pinned thread. Also, the procedure for upgrading the libtorrent isn't clear to me. First, I'm not sure which to use and I'm unclear as to how to extract the files and install them properly.

Finally, my understanding is that the download of 1.3.7 doesn't include your newest libtorrent, so I'd have to do that separately?

As a side-note, how can I turn off SYN flood detection? That seems like something I should turn off too.

Edit: It does appear as if I installed the 1.3.5 py2.6 version.

I have just uploaded an updated version of Deluge 1.3.7 with libtorrent 0.16.17.

I realize you volunteer your time and I'm grateful for the help (and love Scotland by the way, I just noticed your location); but I'm not sure why you won't answer the question about just installing the updated libtorrent. When something breaks on my car, I don't throw the whole car out. I'm not sure what the real objection is to that.

I used qTorrent over the weekend and it has been working fine. Now that you've updated Deluge with the new libtorrent, maybe I'll give it a try; but I have to archive at least all my infohashes and screen shots in case something goes wrong as it has for some, which takes time.

libtorrent is the chassis, engine, transmission and wheels in your car analogy... so updating to 1.3.7 (using 0.16.17) presents significantly less risk and a huge number of benefits over staying with 1.3.5 and dropping in lt 0.16.
