Version 5.8.8 crashes on startup (Hardy)

I am facing the same problem on my Gutsy install after an upgrade from version 0.5.8.7

Earlier installed version : deluge-torrent_0.5.8.7-1_i386.gutsy.deb
Current Version : deluge-torrent_0.5.8.8-1_i386.gutsy.deb
method of deployment : Upgrade

desktop:~$ deluge

no existing Deluge session

I've downgraded to.7 and it works... my torrent is still there with its correct ratio. backup the .deluge just in case.....

Now I've 5.8.7 and works ok.

does anybody know how can i downgrade me deluge 5.8.8 to the 5.8.7 on ubuntu gusty without risking my current downloads? that would be a good temporary solution to this startup crash problem on 5.8.8

@juje80: uninstall deluge 0.5.8.8 and install 0.5.8.7. the current configuration should "survive" it. to minimize the risk of loosing downloads and ratios you can back up the configuration-folder which is located in HOME/.config/deluge (hidden directory)

The same here, using Ubuntu Hardy 8.04, and I'm still having problems with 0.5.8.7 of data not being saved to the disk as dicussed here: http://forum.deluge-torrent.org/viewtopic.php?t=4115.

Maybe developers are spending more time in the deluge 0.6 project (a total rewrite as far as I know) than fixing this version?

guys and gals,

GOOD NEWS - i simply uninstalled Deluge 5.8.8 on Gutsy using Synaptic Package Manager, install 5.8.7 using gDebi and all my current torrents with their respective ratios are still around.
