No such thing as KB, kilo is always represented with a lower case "k" but of course everyone knows what you mean with the upper case "K".
More importantly kB (uppercase B) stands for kilo Bytes.
kb (lowercase b) stands for kilo bits.
kB = Bytes not bits
kb - bits not bytes
8bits in a Byte.

Correct Byte is not a persons name
B vs b is for disambiguation purposes only.
They are formally symbols not acronyms.

I'm no expert, especially not in english-grammer, but what do you mean by "byte was a person"??? It was invented by a person not named as such. Do you mean it's a noun? Kilo is too. I always just thought that acronyms often use uppercase(especially when an acronym of nouns) and that as an easy way to differentiate bits from bytes a norm was developed to include a lower-case version additionally to differentiate between.
