Deluge torrents aren’t downloading

Post by noobzie »

hello, this is my first time ever using torrents. im having this issue where downloading is stuck on 0.00% without changes. and i cant see anything on the peers tab, but in the status tab the number of peers is visible (constantly changing but i think thats normal?), same with seeders. im using proton vpn to download the torrents from pirate bay. the stuff in the details tab also looks really weird. total size says 0.0 KB and # of files also says 0

same thing happened when i tried using utorrent like a year ago. im lead to believe it might just be my internet connection? im not very tech savvy and a lot of the language i read from other help forums goes over my head… any help please?

Public torrent sites such as TPB are known to report torrents with seeders and peers that don't actually exist on the torrent itself, but it also sounds like you might be using what are referred to as "magnet" links, which don't actually have files or metadata about the torrent - they use whats called DHT or distributed-hash-table nodes to retrieve the information about which files and who has them.

Typically, older torrents on the public trackers are not well-seeded and die frequently; they may be reuploaded, but often they just sit there on the site, and people try to download them (such as yourself) and never get anywhere.

If you're using magnet links, try downloading the .torrent file and loading it in Deluge, or picking something new and popular to see if you can at least load the torrent, and then see if any downloading happens.

Otherwise, I'd suggest you find a better public tracker. I can't suggest one due to copyright law, but they shouldn't be hard to find on a site like Reddit.
