I have deluged running as a service on Debian Linux, with deluge-web as my front-end (on a mini-PC I use as a network media server, torrent download box, etc. - it runs 24/7).
I can download torrents and so on, all good. Except the AutoAdd plugin; when I try to add a directory, it says, "You must have read and write access to watch folder."
I definitely do have total read/write access to the directory (I assume it means directory, as a "folder" is a thing you can see on a desktop).
Why can't I add the directory? This is a bug, right?
AutoAdd: Can't add a watch folder
Re: AutoAdd: Can't add a watch folder
No, there is no bug. Your user running deluge is not necessarily "YOU" as you use the system.
You can set to 777 with chmod, if you are in doubt. Otherwise 770 would probably be preferred at most, with a group shared amongst all the users in the mix (you and the user running deluge)
777 will show you that there is no bug.

Re: AutoAdd: Can't add a watch folder
It’s usually a permissions issue, even if your user can read/write. Make sure the Deluge daemon (the user running the service) has read/write access to the AutoAdd folder. Check ownership with ls -l and adjust with chown/chmod if needed. Once the daemon has proper permissions, the plugin should recognize the folder.DelugedDad wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 2:32 pm I have deluged running as a service on Debian Linux, with deluge-web as my front-end (on a mini-PC I use as a network media server, torrent download box, etc. - it runs 24/7).
