Once upon a time, I used to seed all of my torrents, all the time. Any time my computer was on, and connected to the internet, I was seeding. But I have since received two different warnings – first from my home internet provider, and then from my university internet provider – telling me to stop doing this. So I have complied, and I no longer seed anything.
To stop seeding, I went to Edit > Preferences > Queue, and set "total active seeding" to zero.
However, I have just noticed that, after adding new torrents, while they are downloading, they actually also perform some uploading, and don't stop until they are fully downloaded. I am worried that one of my internet providers will detect this and send me another warning, or worse, cut off my internet access.
I've tried going to Edit > Preferences > Queue and setting "stop seeding when share ratio reaches" to zero, but this value defaults to 0.5 after I exit the preferences dialogue. I've tried going to Edit > Preferences > Bandwidth and setting "maximum global upload speed" and "maximum upload speed per torrent" both to zero, but this apparently has no effect.
Is there any way to prevent torrents from uploading while they are downloading?
(In case it's relevant, I am on Ubuntu 14.04 (64 bit), using Deluge 1.3.6.)
How to prevent all uploading, even while downloading?
