All,
I am about to upgrade Ubuntu to the newest version. But I have a bunch of downloads already 'queued' within Deluge. The result of the upgrade will require installing applications, like Deluge. The result will be the complete loss of downloads incomplete, or not yet started, and I have to search for those (if I can remember).
Is there a way to export, prior to the OS upgrade, then import?
I assume there is a place all of the magnet downloads are kept, but I don't know where. If I could find them, can I put them back after the upgrade?
Thanks, in advance, for all those who help.
Export, then import queue of downloads?
Re: Export, then import queue of downloads?
If you are simply upgrading Ubuntu in-place, you won't lose anything.

Re: Export, then import queue of downloads?
Sorry,
I am NOT doing a simple upgrade, in place. In fact, I seldom do that. I prefer installing from 'scratch', as the time in between one install and the next I have learned something that tells to do the next one a bit differently. Sometimes this difference is in response to changes made in the new version. Usually, it is that I learned something.
My current situation, off the topic of this request is:
I am using a Samsung 840 Pro as my O S drive. 250GB of which I am actually using only about 11.25 Gigabytes. Silly. I have the /home going to a WD 1 Terabyte Velociraptor, of which I am only using 27.11 GB. Also Silly. So I am considering putting all of /home on the O S drive, and using the WD drive somewhere else. Or, I might replace the WD drive with a Samsung 830 that I am not using at the present time.
I was considering putting the Samsung 830 into my laptop, replacing the much slower 2.5 inch drive. However, the 830 wants 5 watts when active. That is not much for a desktop, but it might be too much for a laptop.
Anyway, the point is when I do the upgrade to the latest Ubuntu Linux, I will install from scratch, and review my options. I have queued up a bunch of Torrent downloads, and I would not like to have to build the queue again. Finding each of these magnet control files would be tedious and annoying. If I can save that effort by saving off the queue I already have, I would like that a lot.
BTW, I am on Ubuntu 13.04, and will be installing 14.04.1... In Deluge, I am on Client: 1.3.6 and libtorrent: 0.16.7.0 I used Transmission for years, and somewhere around the first of this year switched to Deluge, and I like it better.
Since I am retired, I do have the time to investigate, and explore some of the options available to me. Please, propose something...

Re: Export, then import queue of downloads?
If you backup your config dir as I specified, restore it on new OS and the torrent data is in 'exactly' the same directory path, it will work fine.
This has been covered in the forums numerous times so searching first would have saved a lot of time...

Re: Export, then import queue of downloads?
I did searches and did not get a response that made sense. Remember, I am looking for where the queue of downloads is kept. You have pointed me to the configuration file,
I followed the link you gave, and tried to find ".config/deluge" and got nothing. I am assuming it is someplace else, and I would appreciate more information. When I searched for "deluge" I got a 212 items of results. Perhaps it is in "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/deluge"? I will check it next. Or perhaps in "/var/lib/dpkg/info"?
I will continue on this litle adventure...

Re: Export, then import queue of downloads?
Thanks for the help. I think I found it: home/.config/deluge/state In the 'state' directory I found a lot of files ending ".torrent", when I looked into one of them I recognized one of the downloads I have queued up. I have made a copy of the /state directory and I am hopeful this ends this little adventure.
