yeah, ive only installed from the .deb's and im downloading to an external usb drive formatted as ntfs. ive also tried to reinstall with no luck. when i get home, ill try to uninstall and delete everything from thte Home folder plus the ~/.config/deluge/prefs.state file then reinstall to see if that helps.

I've tried a full reinstall
I've tried removing prefs.state
I've tried downloading onto an ext3 partition
I've tried clicking on other controls

Does anyone else have any ideas what the problem could be? I take it selective downloading/compact allocation used to work.

I'm also having the same issue. I'm downloading to an ext3 drive and don't have any FAT drives on my system (although I do have several NTFS-3G drives, but Deluge isn't running off of them or downloading to them).

I also don't seem to be able to change to preferences from Full to Compact allocation if I try; even when I click another control or set another config value afterwards (the other preferences I change get changes as expected, but the allocation setting always reverts to Full).

I'm opening an issue here: http://dev.deluge-torrent.org/ticket/497

It would be great if any others getting the same issue could post the full details of their system there to give the devs as much info as possible (I'm running a 64bit system, and I'm wondering whether the issue has anything to do with that).

this is a really big problem.
i was able to get rid of it for a while, by purging deluge. then deleting the deluge folder in .config
after a reinstall things were okay until i started setting things up. i suspect (i could be wrong) one of the plugins is causing this
this has to be fixed asap.

im running ubuntu 7.04 32 bit on an ext3 drive. i have ntfs3g but i dont download/upload from that
i installed it from the deb
plugins i have running (* i think may cause some problem):
extra stats
*locations
network activity graph
network health monitor
speed limiter
*torrent files
torrent notifications
torrent peers

Interesting: I had Transmission running downloading a torrent I'd been trying to download selectively in Deluge. I then started Deluge up with Transmission still running in the background; I then tried to change the download priority of an individual file (to "don't download"), and it worked! I then shut Transmission down, tried to change the priority to "High", and it didn't work (it gave the same error mentioned above). Reopening Transmission and trying to change the download priority also didn't work.

So, I repeated the experiment: I closed both Deluge and Transmission, opened Transmission first, and then Deluge; I was able to change the individual file download priority. Note this is with both Deluge and Transmission attempting to download the same torrent at the same time to the same location (i.e. both trying to write to the downloaded file at the same time). This probably means my download is borked, but it also might help pinpoint where the problem is occurring in Deluge.

I am also having the same problem, the setting for compact/full allocation always reverts back to full, but when I try to change individual file priorities it says I need to enable full allocation. I am trying to save to an ext3 drive using deluge 0.5.4.1 installed from the package manager in feisty fawn. It would be really awesome if we could get this working!

i have decided to revert back to deluge 0.54

I installed the latest svn and this alleviated the problem for me.

Just a note, the Locations plugin does not touch that setting as it wouldn't make any sense to change that for a new location, and in either case, it doesn't change anything unless you switch to another, known location for which you have already set a different setting.
