Move Completed Torrent Files

Post by teh_g »

I am new to Deluge (just switched from a Wine/uTorrent setup to Deluge). One of the features I loved about uTorrent was that it could move the completed torrent files once the torrent went in to a seeding state. This allowed me to keep my torrent folder clean while still having all of my torrent files in a completed folder. Is this something that can be done, and I am just missing the setting/plugin?

Yes.
  1. Open "Preferences"
  2. Select "Downloads" tab
  3. Check "Move completed to"
  4. Enter in desired directory
You might also want to use the labels plugin which allows you to move completed torrents to different directories based on their tracker.

Ah, I was under the impression that the downloaded files would be moved when using that option. I only want to move the .torrent files, not the files that I am downloading.

Ah, my mistake.

In that case, you want the "copy of .torrent files to" option, however from memory it copies the .torrent files on add rather than on complete.

I suppose that in the grand scheme of things, the copy on add is essentially the same as copy on complete when it comes to the torrent files. Does it also delete the torrent from the original directory?

Essentially, once I add a .torrent, I want it to move the .torrent file from ~/torrents to ~/torrents/completed. I want to keep the /torrents folder clean except for when I have not added the torrent yet.

It depends on how you add the .torrent.
If you manually add it, then Deluge won't delete the .torrent.
However if you were to set ~/torrents are you auto-add / watch dir, then it would delete the .torrent when it was added (it would also of course add the torrent to the session using the default settings).

I think if I could get the label plugin or the auto-add plugin to show up, I could set a different download folder for each tracker. That coupled with the auto-add/delete of the .torrents would solve my problem. I would just need to change my organization a little and make it tracker based instead of type of file based.
