Error: 14001 side-by-side configuration

Post by Kashimashi »

When I am trying to start 1.2.0 rc3, and in previous releases, I get the following:

Failed to run the program, Error:14001, The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect.

Any thoughts??? Is this Deluge or GTK?

I think it is deluge. I get the same 14001 error with all 1.2rc versions. Do you use WinXP with SP2?
See my post in the "Windows Port" section http://forum.deluge-torrent.org/viewtop ... 12&t=25995.

Was this a computer that had previously installed 1.1.9?

This error 14001 is not a deluge error but apparently happens for many different programs, for example search google for "error 14001". This might not be the exact same problem but the previous google search was giving me this fix... you could try installing this program: Visual C++ 2005 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

I agree with you this is not a deluge problem but a runtime dependency problem. Something is missing on this box.
I'll install the VC++ runtime...

Success!
I installed the VC++ 2008 sp1 Redistributable Package http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... 02B2AF5FC2 and now I can start deluge 1.2rc4 without any errors.
Please update the FAQ with a description of the side-by-side configuration error.
The VC++ 2005 package does not solve this problem. I did not try the VC++ 2008 package w/o sp1. I think this should work too.

I checked the eventlog, and without the vc++ runtime the system logged unresolved references to "Microsoft.VC90.CRT".

I have to check my laptop running sp3. I cannot remember that I installed this vc++ package at all. Perhaps it is pulled in automatically by the
.net 3.x runtime environment.

This is an error with every 1.20 candidate I have tried. Deluge will currently not run on my machine. This is Windows XP SP3. I can't be bothered with Windows 7/Vista in any guise, huge, bloated, slow release that is still vastly inferior to XP in every way.
