The one thing that keeps me from using Deluge...

Post by FrostyC »

I'm still using uTorrent through WINE for only one feature, but it is imo the single best feature in uTorrent. It's also available in Ktorrent...

Here it is, the tracker tab, for instant & simultaneous viewing of connectivity of all the trackers.

I was wondering if there is any way to achieve this in Deluge that I'm just not seeing or possibly a 3rd party plugin or something.
If not, how do I go about requesting the feature to be added?

I must say that under the hood, Deluge is an awesome client & it's bells and whistles are far more useful than uTorrent's to me. Using UDP trackers & the same peer exchange as uTorrent is the icing on the cake though (seeing as it is the most popular client). All that plus the fact that Deluge is Open Source & has a Linux native version really makes it a very awesome application, so if I could get this one LARGE  annoyance :? taking care of, then I can finally make the complete switch. :D

At the moment it's pointless having a tracker tab seeing deluge only connects to one tracker at a time.
When deluge supports announcing to multiple trackers then it could have a tracker tab.

this feature has been discussed before in other thread long time ago.

Conclusion is that multi tracker is not in the original design of torrent protocol. In fact, some dislike multiple tracker because the fact that it is very aggresive in connecting to trackers and this causes a lot of unnecessary connections to trackers. As of previous discussion, the developer of deluge do not have the intention of breaking this protocol. Maybe they will later but for now, I hope they should spend their time in implementing more basic stuffs and fixing bugs in the new 1.2.0 version. Such as the webui and the plugins.

AFAIK, multi-tracker announce will be supported in the next version of libtorrent and hence deluge will support it when it does.

I understand, but the bittorrent protocol keeps evolving & as such, torrent clients should keep evolving.
