What is Deluge uploading?
What is Deluge uploading?
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I was using Deluge to download a .iso of Fedora. Midway through I noticed a bunch of uploads were happening as well and am wondering what the heck was being uploaded? I don't want to be sharing my system files. Was I? Can this be disabled? All I want to do is get a fast download of Linux stuff once in a while...not share my own files with the world (ala Limewire). Should I just be "Save As" instead of opening these .torrent links? Thanks for any additional info you can share!
Re: What is Deluge uploading?
No, Deluge as with all other strictly torrent programs only share what you are currently downloading, or basically the torrents you currently have active.
Some helpful, in depth, generic torrent information can be found at wikipedia... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_protocol
Even if a torrent is just a single file it is still divided up into chunks internally. Theoretically as soon as you finish a single chunk you could be uploading that to another person in the swarm.
This is what helps make torrents so fast, as you download some pieces you can then share those pieces with others who don't have that piece.
