A debug version

Post by shirish »

Hi all,
Is it possible to run deluge in a debug environment? Something like what pidgin offers, a debug version where a window which displays the debug messages or whatever is happening. That would lead to perhaps some more precise bugs which we can file. There could also be a log which would log all the debug messages. Another way perhaps might be using gdb with the debugging symbols but it would be cool What do u think about this? http://dev.deluge-torrent.org/blog could be a good place to post stuff about how people can do stuff. That's another place which has not been used sadly :(

I'm looking at markybob and/or zachlib to give us some pointers on this ;)

you can run it from a console to see more output, but we don't have a full-blown debug version, but it's not a bad idea...

The idea is we have some kind of debug environment then all the beta builds can profit from it. The bugs in the final release would be forwarded by distributions themselves . For e.g.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/118264 for a bug in ktorrent ;)
