Some stuff as wikipedia sees needs to be done.

Post by shirish »

Hi all,
Some things which need to be clarified according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison ... t_software :-
  • Windows & Mac Port = Need contributors I guess
  • Support Ipv6 = Is this on the planning stage?
  • Super Seeding http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super-seeding = Interesting to say the least.
  • Tracker ? = Not sure what the guys mean by that
  • Built-in disk-cache [Reduces disk usage, file fragmentation (in case it is not preallocated) and latencies due to larger written blocks and cached data for hash checking finished pieces] = don't we support this , the whole compact allocation or this is different?
  • Web-seeding http://www.bittornado.com/docs/webseed-spec.txt = Interesting specification. Might be cool for downloading lots of open source distributions perhaps. I also read about apt going the torrent way so there is lots of synergy there.
[/list]

That's about it for now :)
Debian Sid, Intel Dual-Core, 512 kbps DL , 64 Kbps UL, deluge-1.3.5, pieces plugin, GNOME 3.4.x

yeah...this probably wont happen until 0.6 or later, in large part because distutils on win32 is beyond stupid. 0.6 wont use distutils which will make things easier for porting.

we already have it. libtorrent and in turn deluge have native ipv6 support
shirish wrote:[*]Super Seeding http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super-seeding = Interesting to say the least.
yeah, it's interesting. i dont know much about it.
shirish wrote:[*]Tracker ? = Not sure what the guys mean by that
i think they meant having a built-in tracker so you could host your own torrents completely without an external site or tracker.

i think they're just stating it in a retarded way. our full allocation does the trick here.

libtorrent has support for this, but i havent yet looked into getting it in deluge. i'll update that wikipedia page with this new stuff
