Fighting forum spam

Spam posts by bots can be prevalent on this forum so to combat them we have a complex non-googlable question for newly registering users. You can ask on IRC if having difficulties with registering.

If you see a nonsensical post by a user please don't reply, instead flag the post for moderator attention.

Examples that can be treated as suspicious:

• Clickbait titles.
• Mentions a commercial product e.g. VPN.
• Contains a random URL, especially in their first post.
• User profile OS or Distro is not a valid selection.
