Deluge can't connect to trackers

Post by renzomarcus »

Hi there,

I'm new to Deluge, but immediately hit an issue that seems unsolvable.
I have been Googling my issue to bits already, however I can't seem to find a solution.
Recently I installed Deluge on a freenas jail, however when I add a torrent Deluge can't seem to connect to the trackers...
I have verified network connectivity, DNS settings and all of them, they are all fully functional in the FreeBSD jail container.

I get the following error:

Code: Select all

openbittorrent.com: Error: Host not found (authoritative)
Sometimes I also see a plain timeout on the tracker.
When I ping towards openbittorrent.com, the address resolves and the ping succeeds.

Please advice!

Renzo

EDIT:
Deluge is behind a Palo Alto Networks firewall, so UPNP and other funky (consumer grade) stuff is not supported.
Do I need an inbound NAT? --> Already tried to set a manual inbound NAT for a port range of 10 ports, however still no connection with trackers...

That tracker has been shut down since 2017.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Whilst this does make sense, what I don't get is that this torrent works perfectly fine on my uTorrent on my PC. Why does Deluge not try to load other trackers then?

Hi,

By default Deluge use the first tracker of the list only. If you want to change this behaviour install the ltconfig plugin and enable the below lines:
announce to all tiers
announce to all trackers

uTorrent may also be pulling peers from DHT. I am not sure if DHT is enabled by default or not.

Settings->Network->DHT under Network Extras

Shamael, thank you very much! That appeared to be the holy grail I was looking for. Case closed! :)

I think I'm still missing something somewhere, I have this torrent that can't find peers via the trackers, but utorrent can find the peers via DHT for example. Deluge finds these at first as well, however seems to delete them after just a few seconds.

I'm on private tracker hence do not use DHT (not configured) so I can only guess:
-The ltconfig plugin has DHT settings, maybe that may help
-Anything with your libtorrent version maybe? I'm stick to the packaged couple Deluge 1.3.15 with libtorrent 1.0.11

The libtorrent version seems to be 1.1.10.0, Deluge itself is 1.3.5

The libtorrent 1.0.11 version is quiet old and most of the distrib update it already to 1.1.X. This is not a supported combo so far I know, many topics point issue or mismatch (I frozen the libtorrent packet to avoid issue). It works but with speed limit not working for example, reason why I mention this possible problem.

BTW I guess the Deluge version is well 1.3.15. If not try to update it to.
