Socks5 with Auth Issue [Safety Concern]

Post by clambert »

Is it normal for downloads to continue to work without proper Socks5 credentials? I had the peer, web seed, track, and dht configured and then changed the username for all of them. I was't expecting it to still download but it was. With bad credentials lack of connection to the proxy server I would expect it to stop all traffic.

Does anyone know why this situation might be occurring? This doesn't seem to safe to me.

I suspect that if you have current connections running thru a properly configured proxy, those connections will continue even if you change the proxy credentials to some incorrect form. But any new connections due to newly added torrents might fail. Have you tested the latter?
