Python has unexpectedly quit, and fastresume rejected

Hi,
I'm new to Deluge, and to torrents, and in fact new to Linux.
Deluge works for a while, then quits and complains that Python has quit unexpectedly. When I try and restart it, I get a "Fastresume rejected" error, but the torrents run for a little while before Python quits again.
Oddly enough, I had a similar problem with Azureus--it would run for a while, then quit and complain about Java, and wouldn't run again until I'd deleted the .azureus directory.
Is this typical? Is there an obvious fix?
