Newbie question

I am switching from uTorrent to Deluge and love it so far. It is the foobar2000 of torrent downloaders.

I run Deluge on a windows 10 machine that I control by RDP. All is working and good. BUT, when the web access only seems to work when I am connected via RDP. When I close the RDP session (NOTE I AM NOT LOGGING OFF ... just closing RDP) the web access stops working. I think deluge is still working and other processes on the machine (I use it to play music, eg) continue to work.

This did not happen with utorrent.

It may be relevant ... I have Windows 10 Home so I have to use the RDP Wrapper thingy to make RDP work. I think it also means I don't have some of the fancy group policy editors, etc.

Sorry - just restating that this happens though I am NOT logging off windows - just closing RDP - saying twice as I googled this problem and it seems like this is a common whoops.

Any thoughts?

Adding to my own post.

1) I added the PreventSuspend plugin (it sounded promising) ... it didn't help
2) Deluge actually suspends (no longer downloads) if I am not connected to the machine by RDP!

I am definitely not logging off and other processes continue when I close the RDP window,

If I can't sort this - it basically makes Deluge useless for me. I am certain there is something fixable here though.

Thanks,

gordon

Hi,

What about running Deluge & Deluge-web as a service ? So the RDP session is out of the problem

Hi logisticky

I don't know if it helps, but this is how I run Deluge on Windows Server 2008:
- I configured Deluge to run in "Thin Client" mode and set up everything for one specific user
- in which autostart folder I put the Deluge shortcut
- and used this tool to automatically log in after each reboot

With this configuration the machine automatically reboots, installs updates etc. and Deluge is always running as soon as it's rebooted. I am able to connect with the Deluge client itself or via the web client. It should work fine in "Standalone" mode.

If you are still running into issues with RDP and your Home version, I would recommend something like UltraVNC. You can set it up as a server that runs automatically, viewers are available for almost every OS or mobile OS you can think of.
Just don't use it over the internet, only passwords are encrypted!
