Is there any special procedure for upgrading? Simple as the usual Mac method - copy program into the Applications folder?

I installed Deluge and got the error "error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1". For shits and giggles I tried to start up Deluge and to my surprise it is working. This is with 10.4.11.
