Thanks.. That was the hint I was looking for. I installed deluged with
# aptitude -t unstable install deluged
Now the deluged command is recognized, and the daemon is running.

Hello, I have installed Deluge using http://dev.deluge-torrent.org/wiki/Installing/Linux/Debian/Squeeze .
